
Sam Hickson
Sam comes to PID from GenUnity, a nonprofit that brings residents together across difference to build trust, collective knowledge, and power to drive change on the issues most impacting our communities. He believes building sustainable philanthropic funding for civic leadership and community-driven solutions requires honest conversation and long term partnership.
Born and raised in Maine, Sam received a B.A. in Theatre & Dance Studies and Hispanic Studies from Wheaton College which led him to teach English as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Brazil. Since then, he has worked for Bread & Puppet Theater, ImprovBoston, Kidstock! Creative Theater, Hill House Inc., Northeastern University’s Global Experience Office, and the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS). He also serves on the Board of Directors for Puppet Showplace Theater, a vibrant, welcoming, and culturally responsive non-profit puppet theater in Brookline, MA. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
