Nathan Sanders

Co-Founder, MAPLE

Nathan E. Sanders is a co-founder of MAPLE and a data scientist focused on using technology as a tool to help vulnerable communities participate in public policymaking. As a civic technologist affiliated with the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University, he co-authored the 2025 book “Rewiring Democracy: How AI Will Transform Our Politics, Government, and Citizenship” with Bruce Schneier and cofounded the Harvard Climate Justice Design Fellowship.

As an organizer in science communication, he co-founded the international conference series on science communication, ComSciCon, and the graduate student-led science writing collaborative, ScienceBites. Nathan is trained as a physical scientist and holds BS degrees in physics and astrophysics from Michigan State University and MS and PhD degrees in Astronomy & Astrophysics from Harvard University.
