Danielle Allen

Founder & Chairperson

Danielle Allen is a political philosopher at Harvard University, where she directs the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation and the Democratic Knowledge Project. Her research and advocacy focus on making elections more competitive, strengthening civic education, and redesigning political institutions to be more responsive and accountable. She is the author of Justice by Means of Democracy and several other books on democratic life in America. She also chairs the board of FairVote, co-chairs the Our Common Purpose Commission at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and serves on the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. She is the convening chair of the Coalition for Healthy Democracy, which is advancing the all-party primaries ballot initiative for 2026.
