The killing of Alex Pretti and Renee Good at the hands of federal agents in Minnesota is a tragedy for their loved ones and for all of us who treasure our unalienable rights of life and liberty. Our country’s government is meant to protect the safety and rights of all people, and the deaths of Alex and Renee are a demonstrable failure of our government.
Our shared responsibility – whether within government at the federal or state levels or as individuals – is to do better and build a society where we support each other to live peacefully and freely. At PID, we will persist in supporting states to build healthy democracies – representative of their people’s needs and capable of ensuring our federal system is accountable and responsive.
