Partners In Democracy, a leader in democracy renovation in Massachusetts and in states around the country, has welcomed David Green to its PID MA Action team as Interim Organizing Director. David will lead the PID MA Action organizing team as it works to pass four ballot measures in November: All-party primaries, Election Day voter registration, legislative stipend reform, and expanding the public records law to the legislature and governor’s office.
“We’re excited to add David’s organizing experience at such a critical time for our democracy. Local community leaders and courageous elected officials across Massachusetts are getting behind these ballot questions that will deliver more responsive, transparent, and representative democracy — one that gives every voter real voice and choice,” said John Griffin, Executive Director of PID MA Action.
David previously promoted pro-democracy nonpartisan reforms as Statewide Organizing Director at Unite NY, and before that as National Organizing Director at Rank the Vote. Before entering full-time activism, he was a data analyst at a healthcare startup. David grew up in Belmont and attended Amherst College where he majored in both Mathematics and Theater. After graduating, David volunteered as a Deputy Chapter Lead at Voter Choice MA, building grassroots support and donations for the MA RCV movement. David was also a cofounder of the MA Yang Gang.
Partners In Democracy envisions a renovated democracy where everyone is included and has real power to shape our future, our institutions are resilient in the face of extremism, and our government is responsive, accountable, and delivers on the big issues in people’s lives. This includes:
- Strengthening accountability to voters through ballot measures like all-party primaries, Election Day voter registration, legislative stipend reform, and expanding open records laws.
- Improving legislative effectiveness and public engagement through increased transparency, reforms to legislative rules, and digital tools like MAPLE that help people track and provide testimony on bills.
- Empowering people to be effective advocates for a healthy democracy through civic education workshops, advocacy training, and support on running for office.
