Partners in Democracy Expands Statewide Organizing Team

June 20, 2025 (Boston) — Partners in Democracy, a leader in democracy renovation in Massachusetts and in states around the country, has welcomed Annika Jensen as Organizing Manager and Deysi Gutierrez as Coalition Organizer.

“We’re so excited to add Annika and Deysi to expand Partners in Democracy’s outreach work. With such widespread demand for change, people desperately need to see and feel how democracy can work for them. We’re committed to building this affirmative vision here in Massachusetts – a renovated, pluralistic democracy that is responsive, inclusive, and effective,” said Jerren Chang, President and CEO of Partners in Democracy.

Annika Jensen has extensive experience in local, state, and national political campaigns. Most recently a staffer on the Harris-Walz Transition Team, Annika previously worked on campaigns for U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley, State Sen. Becca Rausch, and Sonia Chiang-Diaz’s campaign for governor, among others. In her role as Organizing Manager, she will oversee and strengthen PID’s civic engagement pathways.

As Coalition Organizer, Deysi Gutierrez will grow and oversee PID’s partnerships with community and advocacy organizations across Massachusetts. She joins PID from La Colaborativa, which serves the Latinx communities in Boston’s surrounding gateway cities. A graduate of UMass Boston, Deysi’s previous advocacy experience includes Steppingstone and Mutual Aid Eastie.

Partners in Democracy’s vision for our democracy is one where everyone is included and has real power to shape our future, our institutions are resilient in the face of extremism, and our government is responsive, accountable, and delivers on the big issues in people’s lives. This includes:

  • Strengthening accountability to voters through electoral reforms like all-candidate primaries, ranked choice voting, and same-day voter registration.
  • Improving legislative effectiveness and public engagement through solutions like increased transparency, reforms to legislative rules, and digital tools like MAPLE that help people track and provide testimony on bills.
  • Empowering people to be effective advocates for a healthy democracy through civic education workshops, advocacy training, and support on running for office.
