The Interim Organizing Manager will contribute to MA Action’s “Democracy Renovation on the Ballot” campaign, supporting four 2026 ballot measures in Massachusetts: All-Party Primaries, Expanding Public Records, Legislative Stipend Reform, and Election Day voter registration. Their goal will be to grow and deploy a multiracial, cross-ideological community of Democracy Renovation advocates, and to ensure that those advocates have the resources and skills needed to build support for the four Democracy Renovation ballot measures PID MA Action supports on the 2026 ballot:

- Owning the strategy, structure, and goals of PID MA Action’s volunteer program, including defining priorities, timelines, and success metrics for volunteer recruitment, training, deployment, and retention. In Spring 2026, PID MA Action will also contribute to signature gathering for the four initiatives.
- Managing 2 full-time and up to 4 part-time Organizers who are responsible for individual pieces of the volunteer program (ex. scheduling Democracy on the Ballot presentations with local organizations, recruitment and retention of new volunteers, and scheduling volunteer trainings). Managing would include setting clear expectations, providing guidance and feedback, monitoring progress, and ensuring accountability and high-quality execution across organizing workstreams.
- Overseeing the volunteer training and Democracy on the Ballot presentation pipeline– ensuring that recruitment, outreach, scheduling, preparation, and follow-ups are happening consistently and effectively (even when these tasks are being executed by other staff).
- Liaising with coalition partners to coordinate strategy.
- Working with the MA Action Executive Director to refine our organizing strategy throughout the campaign.
Keys to Success:
- Rich and varied organizing experience in Massachusetts.
- Enthusiasm for PID’s “Democracy Renovation on the Ballot” 2026 campaign, including the four ballot questions it includes: All-Party Primaries, Expanding Public Records, Legislative Stipend Reform, and Election Day Voter Registration.
- Experience managing small numbers of staff, especially in an organizing context.
- Passion for building bridges across lines of difference and organizing communities – with people from all partisan, geographic, and demographic constituencies – toward common goals.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, contribute to strategic thinking, and shape your own program within a broader organizational unit.
- Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
- Competency using a variety of computer programs, including volunteer databases.
- Bilingual proficiency, especially in a language spoken by large communities of Massachusetts residents (preferred but not required).

- Location: Massachusetts. Most “desk work” will be fully remote. The Interim Organizing Manager will need to attend frequent events throughout the state. The Interim Organizing Manager will need to have the ability to travel to locations throughout Massachusetts.
- Compensation: $89,980 salary, plus competitive benefits.
Other Notes
This is an interim position and will expire at the end of November 2026. There will be opportunities for renewal and conversion into a permanent, non-campaign role. This role is subject to a background check to the extent permitted by law.
